COP30 Building Capacities for Resilient Infrastructure: From Knowledge to Practice

18 November, 2025 @ 10:00 am – 11:15 am BRT

Achieving disaster-resilient infrastructure (DRI) depends on an integrated ecosystem that bridges the gap between knowledge and practice. This session unpacks CDRI’s integrated capacity development ecosystem, comprising the Infrastructure Resilience Academic Exchange (IRAX), Fellowship Programme, Capacity development modules, Online courses, bespoke training programmes, and Communities of Practice, and its potential to build the capacities of a wide range of stakeholders in infrastructure resilience. CDRI’s capacity-building efforts aim to empower all types of infrastructure stakeholders, especially professionals, researchers, and policymakers, to co-create solutions, share knowledge and experiences, and drive action. Join us to explore CDRI’s strides in nurturing the next generation of leaders in infrastructure resilience.

Savina Carluccio, Executive Director of ICSI, will speak about advancing long-term, practice-oriented capacity development for resilient infrastructure by fostering communities of practice, localising training, accelerating the translation of knowledge into action, and building sustained learning ecosystems for engineers and practitioners.

Speakers:

  • Savina Carluccio, Executive Director, International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI)
  • Arghya Sinha Roy, Director, Climate Change, Asian Development Bank (ADB)
  • Chitembo Kawimbe Chunga, Lead Resilience, Climate Investment Funds (CIF)
  • Timon McPhearson, Professor of Environmental Studies, New York University (NYU)
  • Suresh Yadav, Director, Climate Change and Oceans Directorate at the Commonwealth Secretariat

This session is held at the DRI Pavilion and hosted by the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI)
