COP30 Official Side Event – Engineering for climate resilience: water planning, energy transition, biodiversity gain
18 November, 2025 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm BRT

The side event will explore critical infrastructure resilience in the face of a changing climate. It will include discussions on public tools for hydrological projections in water-stressed islands; energy transition through electrification, distributed energy resources, and digital access; and regenerative design for nature and community resilience.
Savina Carluccio, Executive Director of ICSI, will speak about how engineers can drive nature-positive, climate-resilient infrastructure by treating nature as a critical ally, embedding ecological principles into design, and shifting from minimising harm to actively restoring and enhancing ecosystems.
This event is organised by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), in partnership with the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
