This event will showcase perspectives from two capital cities, London (UK) and Nicosia (Cyprus), who will come together in a panel discussion to learn from one another’s resilience challenges, in the frame of London Climate Action Week. Both cities are managing dense urban cores and growing populations within limited space at the centre of their island.

Key themes of the discussion are:

– Blue Green spaces in an urban environment (Nicosia can learn from London, as it has an opportunity to integrate and develop a new city park)

– Managing extreme heat resilience and drought exacerbated by urban heat island effects (London can learn from Nicosia’s experience facing these challenges)

– The panel would be at least 50% youth, recognising that young engineers are uniquely positioned to drive innovation and change, given their fresh perspectives and adaptability, but they often lack the platforms to make their voices heard.

Savina Carluccio, Executive Director of ICSI, will moderate the panel discussion.
