Scaling up adaptation finance: a dialogue between engineers and investors
16 December, 2024 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm GMT

There is an urgent need to unlock funding for equitable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure across the globe and to prioritise infrastructure that delivers positive outcomes for people and the planet.
In the context of New York Climate week, international climate leaders from the engineering and investor communities will come together to drive climate action through a focus on adaptation and low carbon finance, tackling barriers, identifying opportunities, and breaking down silos.
The dialogue will interrogate trade-offs between investing in resilience and adaptation and other policy drivers, such as achieving net-zero targets. It will explore how these two stakeholder groups can work together to achieve better quantification and articulation of the value and wider benefits delivered by these investments, resulting in more capital being unlocked. Finally, there will be discussion on how to promote the inclusion of physical climate risk assessments in all investment decisions.
This event will identify tangible, near-term collaborative actions to accelerate implementation of just, resilient, low-carbon infrastructure that is fit for people and the planet. While the focus of the roundtable will primarily be on adaptation finance, the discussions will also explore strategies for ensuring a more systemic approach to climate action.
