The Resilience Shift and Wood launch the Resilience Realized Awards

A new awards programme has been launched by our host organisation, The Resilience Shift, in partnership with Wood, to share inspiring examples of resilient infrastructure projects and the pioneering teams behind them.

All facets of society urgently need to build asset and infrastructure resilience to climate change and other uncertainties, such as pandemics, cyberterrorism, system failures or other emerging areas of vulnerability.

The Resilience Realized Awards is a new, multi-year collaboration between The Resilience Shift and Wood that will give recognition to those projects around the world that are at the cutting edge of resilience. It will put a spotlight on organizations and governments that are inspiring transformational change in what they do and how they do it to create resilient outcomes ready for current and future uncertainties.

Resilience Realized aims to bring together and showcase the best examples globally of innovative approaches to creating and realizing resilient assets and infrastructure systems in practice.

The Resilience Realized Awards website will showcase submitted and shortlisted projects and will serve as a resource to inspire, motivate and enhance the resilience of assets and infrastructure systems. The stories and examples presented will galvanize new best practices and introduce creative ways to deliver the future-ready resilient assets and infrastructure the world requires.

Entering the awards – benefits for entrants?

Resilience Realized represents a gold standard for asset and infrastructure projects. Organizations that submit entries will also be contributing to a valuable resource for practitioners, with the potential for their ideas to be used as best practice worldwide.

Winners of the award will have achieved the recognition of, and engagement with, our panel of judges made up of industry leaders and pioneers in best practice for resilience. Winning project teams will have the opportunity to have their projects promoted by Wood and The Resilience Shift as examples of excellence.

Showcasing resilience best practice – who should enter?

Projects should show how they have enhanced whole system resilience. How did the project’s purpose and desired outcome improve upon or benefit all stakeholders involved including the community of end users? The panel of judges want to understand not what the project is, but what it does and how it ensures resilient outcomes.

They are specifically looking for asset and infrastructure projects that demonstrate an innovative approach or change in practice. For the 2021-22 Awards cycle, the focus should relate to energy resilience but can originate from any sector.

Full entry criteria and terms will be published in autumn 2021 as the Awards open.
