ICSI at London Climate Action Week

ICSI is organising two back-to-back events at London Climate Action Week, hosted by Bentley Systems.

  • FILM SCREENING: Becoming Nature Positive – Engineering the Transition to a Nature-Positive Future

Co-convened by ICSI, WWF, and Lloyd’s Register Foundation, this event will open with a screening of Becoming Nature Positive, a 30-minute documentary by the Nature Positive Initiative and Open Planet Studios exploring why the nature crisis is inseparable from the climate and inequality crises, and what a nature-positive transition means for business, policy, and investment. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion bringing together experts from industry, civil society, and academia to examine what a nature-positive mindset means in practice for the engineering and infrastructure professions, and how infrastructure development can better align with ecological resilience.

  • Accelerating the Implementation of Resilient and Adaptive Transport Infrastructure

Co-convened by ICSI and the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), this session will bring together city leaders, infrastructure planners, and transport experts to explore how policy frameworks, risk-informed decision-making, and collaborative finance mechanisms can support more climate-resilient transport networks. The discussion will focus on challenges and opportunities for London transport compared to other cities, recognising the interdependencies between infrastructure, ecosystems, and communities. The event will also introduce ICSI’s upcoming Climate Resilient Infrastructure Report on Transport, set to launch at COP31.

Taking Stock of Infrastructure Resilience: Webinar Series

Following the launch of the Global Infrastructure Resilience Working Paper on World Engineering Day in March, which synthesises findings from over 3,000 infrastructure professionals across more than 100 countries, ICSI and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) are convening a series of regional webinars throughout 2026. Each session will explore how the global findings translate into region-specific challenges and opportunities, with panels of practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders focused on actionable strategies to strengthen infrastructure resilience.

The first webinar will focus on Europe and Central Asia, a regions characterised by relatively strong policy frameworks but uneven implementation, particularly at sub-national levels, and significant challenges around ageing infrastructure requiring large-scale retrofitting and modernisation. The session will spotlight how advanced markets and technical capacity can be leveraged to scale resilient design standards and digital tools at a system-wide level.

All webinars are open to infrastructure professionals, policymakers, and researchers worldwide.

ICSI is presenting two sessions at the Innovate4Cities conference on urban innovation, co-hosted by UN-Habitat and GCoM.

  • Co-Designing Gender-Equitable and Disability-Inclusive Climate Infrastructure

Co-hosted by ICSI, GCoM, and the Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub), this session will examine practical actions for policymakers and infrastructure practitioners seeking to integrate gender, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) considerations into climate adaptation projects across urban infrastructure. Drawing on real-world examples and city case studies from low- and middle-income countries, the session will share synthesised recommendations for inclusive housing, transport, and public spaces and explore how resilient infrastructure is strengthened when it responds simultaneously to climate risks and GEDSI dimensions of access, safety, and governance.

  • Resilient Ports for Urban Resilience: The Importance of Climate Risk Assessment

Hosted by ICSI, this session will explore how climate risk knowledge can be translated into practical action for resilient port infrastructure and more resilient port-city systems. Ports are a vital element of the global trade ecosystem, and climate-related disruptions to port systems already generate billions in economic losses annually with cascading effects on transport networks, supply chains, and city livelihoods. The session will introduce the Port Decision Makers’ Guide to Climate Risk Assessment, developed by ICSI under the Resilience4Ports initiative, and will highlight the importance of cross-sector collaboration. Through case studies from Africa and insights on port-city collaboration, the session will demonstrate how climate risk assessment outputs can support investment decisions and coordinated action among port authorities, infrastructure operators, cities, and investors.

ICSI at the Road to Antalya: Zero Waste as Climate Action Conference

ICSI will be participating in the Zero Waste Forum 2026, taking place 5-7 June in Istanbul as part of Istanbul Zero Waste Week. The forum is the flagship preparatory event ahead of COP31 in Antalya, bringing together ministers, mayors, international organisations, and civil society from over 150 countries. ICSI will join a panel discussion on low-waste infrastructure.
