Action Tracks are a core delivery mechanism of ICSI and a defining feature of our work. They bring together cross-sector and cross-disciplinary expertise to identify barriers to implementing sustainable and resilient infrastructure, co-develop targeted responses, and support the uptake of good practice across the infrastructure value chain.
The Action Tracks focus on producing practical, decision-relevant outputs and promoting their adoption through engagement with practitioners, policymakers, investors, academia, and civil society. Through this model, ICSI aims to move beyond thought leadership towards tangible impact.
Funding and financing
This Action Track aims to advance thought leadership on how the engineering community can help unlock and scale funding and finance for sustainable, resilient, and equitable infrastructure, while strengthening collaboration between the engineering community, policymakers and financiers including MDBs and private investors.
Guidance, tools and standards
This Action Track focuses on the development, curation, validation, and dissemination of globally relevant guidance, tools, and standards that support practitioners across the infrastructure lifecycle to plan, deliver, and manage infrastructure that is: sustainable and low-carbon; climate-resilient and adaptive; nature-positive; equitable and people-centred; and fit for the future in diverse geographic and institutional contexts. The Action Track addresses both climate mitigation and adaptation, with a strong emphasis on practical implementation, usability, and alignment with real-world decision-making processes.
Energy Transition
This Action Track aims to accelerate the delivery of infrastructure scale electrical generation and distribution projects by mobilising and empowering the engineering community to apply global best practice, advance standardisation, and support the transition to reliable, resilient, and low-carbon energy systems worldwide.
